Warframe 1999 Guide FAQ: Answering the Most Common Questions

2026-06-11·FAQ

How Do I Actually Access the 1999 Content?

You need to finish the entire main quest chain. Vor's Prize, The Second Dream, The War Within, Heart of Deimos, The New War, Whispers in the Walls, The Lotus Eaters — in that order, no skipping. And you need a built Railjack plus a Necramech.

Honestly the Necramech requirement sounds way worse than it actually is. The grind got massively streamlined in Jade Shadows — you can buy blueprints straight from Father on Deimos now. No more running Isolation Vaults for a week straight. Or just drop some Platinum on it if you value your sanity, tbh.

So if you're wondering whether you can jump into 1999 on a fresh account — nope. The quest chain is strictly sequential. From a brand new start you're looking at maybe 100 to 300 hours depending on how hard you rush the story. I've found most people land somewhere around 150 if they're not obsessively farming side stuff. Check your Codex console — it's left of Navigation in your Orbiter — under the Quests tab. That'll show you exactly which prerequisite is stuck.

How Does the KIM Dating System Actually Work?

The KIM messenger sits on the POM-2 PC in your Orbiter. Right of Navigation, third tab. Each day you get three ways to build Chemistry with a Hex member: one chat conversation, one gift through DIRECTGIFTZ, and one bounty run with them as your active crew member in Höllvania.

Chemistry ranks are gated behind Hex syndicate standing. You need Fresh Slice for Friendly, 2-for-1 for Liked, Hot and Fresh for Trusted, and Pizza Party for Close or Best Friends/Loved. So yeah, you can't speedrun the romance stuff — the syndicate grind is the real bottleneck here.

You can only romance one Hex member at a time. The relationship locks in at the New Year's Eve event, which happens at the end of each real-time calendar month. That's when you get the kiss cutscene with your partner. Want to switch? Wait for the yearly reset and start over from scratch.

Tbh the fastest Chemistry grind I've found is stacking Steel Path bounties with the right Protoframe equipped. You earn standing, Chemistry, and Arcanes all in one run. Efficient as hell. For gifts — don't guess. Arthur likes practical kitchen stuff, weirdly enough. Eleanor wants books and deep conversations. Aoi responds to music and genuine enthusiasm. Pick dialogue options that actually match who they are, not just whatever sounds nice. And you can't lose Chemistry from wrong answers, so feel free to experiment. Not sure about this but I think some dialogue branches give slightly more Chemistry than others...

How Do the Calendar and Seasons Work?

One real-time week equals one in-game season — that's three months compressed into seven days. Four weeks make a full calendar year. Every Monday you get a fresh batch of seasonal objectives. Kill X enemies with abilities, finish Y missions as a specific Warframe, that kind of thing.

Completing these objectives earns you Hex Overrides. They come in two flavors.

Hex Boosts are passive, stackable buffs. Melee attack speed, ability strength, power duration — you can layer multiple copies of the same boost for some pretty ridiculous numbers by late cycle.

Hex Factors are active, non-stackable buffs. Things like Electricity damage on bullet jump or extra Corrosive stacks.

And here's what the game absolutely does not explain clearly: all Overrides reset when the calendar year ends. Those buffs you spent three weeks stacking? Poof. Gone. So plan your hard content — Steel Path Apex Tank runs, long Survival endurance, EDA attempts — for the final week of the cycle when your Overrides are maxed out.

The year-end also triggers the New Year's Eve event. If you're dating someone, that's when the kiss scene plays. After the cutscene you pick whether to reset everything or stay with your current partner.

How Do I Beat the H-09 Apex Tank Secret Boss?

This thing is the hidden Steel Path version of the normal H-09 Efervon Tank assassination. To trigger it: before the second gate in the Höllvania Assassination node, find two green-glowing PC terminals. They look almost like regular Stormfall consoles but the green glow is unmistakable once you know what to look for. Hack them manually — no Ciphers allowed — using Emergency Transponders dropped by Scaldra units. Arthur confirms success with a voice line, then two red Scaldra symbols show up under your minimap.

The fight has no self-revive. You go down, someone else has to pick you up — a teammate or sentinel. Magnetic procs strip abilities constantly. Enemy levels scale with squad size: 225 solo, 250 duo, 275 trio, 300 full squad. And pretty much everything spawns as Eximus when possible.

Phase 1 is the Scaldra form. Destroy the eight green vents on the tank body. Tank is completely invulnerable until every single vent is popped. Strip armor immediately — Latron Incarnon with Flensing Spike is what most people run. Shoot Stormfall balloons mid-air to insta-kill those units, then grab their dropped RPG launcher. Apply Viral procs, fire the RPG, and one shot deletes an entire health bar segment. Two full health bars in this phase.

Phase 2 is Techrot form. The tank mutates, tentacles everywhere. A Cascading Fragmentation debuff starts ticking — damage increases every 60 seconds, so speed actually matters here. Destroy Prosboscis nodes, those infested growths on the tank body. Kill Techrot mobs before they reach the tank or it heals. Destroy Mucuspire spires immediately — those things disable your abilities.

But here's the trick most people totally miss: deploy specters before you enter the arena. Summoning is disabled once you're inside. Five things I always bring: Ancient Healer specter for squad status immunity, Dante specter for Overguard uptime, Latron Incarnon with Flensing Spike for armor strip in both phases, Magistar Incarnon or Arca Titron or Sampotes with Nira mod set — heavy slam deletes Phase 2 growths — and Vazarin focus school for Protective Sling emergency invulnerability.

A sentinel with Sacrifice plus Momentous Bond guarantees one revive. Arcane Nullifier blocks magnetic status but it won't stop Mucuspire ability nullification — you still need to shoot those spires fast.

Solo clears with Excalibur, Nyx, Mag, Volt, Trinity, or Cyte-09 also drop exclusive Protoframe-themed glyphs. One per frame.

What Weapons Are Worth Building?

The two standout additions from 1999 are the AX-52 and the Reconifex. Skip the Vesper 77 unless you're a completionist, honestly.

AX-52 is a precision rifle from Amir at Hex Rank 4. Its whole thing is bonus crit damage per Cold status stack on the target. Primary Acuity, Galvanized Scope, Vital Sense, Hunter Munitions as the core. Primed Cryo Rounds plus Rime Rounds push it into stupid numbers. Primary Deadhead for the arcane. Build it for headshots, treat it like a semi-auto Latron, and it carries well into Steel Path. I've found it actually outperforms some older rifles people still swear by.

Reconifex is an LMG with a built-in Heat damage spike on active reload. Mod for Viral — Malignant Force plus Primed Cryo Rounds — add Hellfire, Galvanized Chamber, Galvanized Scope, Rifle Elementalist. The free Heat proc from active reload means you only need to supply the Viral half of the equation. Pretty neat design. Primary Deadhead or Primary Merciless, whichever you prefer.

Both weapons really want Galvanized mods and Steel Path Arcanes to shine. So they're mid-to-late-game projects rather than star chart clearers. Kinda disappointing if you were hoping for early-game power spikes, but that's how it goes.

How Do I Get the Hex Finale True Ending?

Reach Pizza Party — that's Rank 5 — with the Hex syndicate. And get all six members to Close or Loved Chemistry rank. Arthur, Aoi, Amir, Eleanor, Lettie, Quincy. Every single one. That means maxing every relationship through daily chats, gifts, and bounties.

Minimum time investment is around three real-time weeks if you're really efficient about it. The Finale becomes available after the New Year's Eve cutscene plays. If you missed it in your first yearly cycle, you can trigger it again after the next reset by hitting the same requirements.

So if you're stuck waiting between cycles, spend that time farming Hex Treasures — pizzas, burgers, CDs — with Parallax landing craft and Orokin Eye in Steel Path Höllvania. The standing from treasures is the fastest way to push syndicate ranks, and you'll want a stockpile for the next cycle when everything resets and you...
